The history of Vietnamese Coffee

Coffee was brought into Vietnam during the war in 1857 by a French Catholic Priest, and it was Arabica type. After the war, the Vietnamese Government had started to push coffee production nationwide. Even though both types of coffee beans (Arabica and Robusta) is being grown in Vietnam, Robusta is the main coffee bean in Vietnam's Coffee market, , due to its compatibility with Vietnam atmosphere.

Phin Coffee

In Vietnam, coffee usually serves in an individual portion along with a coffee maker. The Phin coffee maker is a drip type, consist of a small cup, and tin chamber, and a lid use as the container to put in the coffee ground. After that, pour in the hot water and wait for the coffee to form.

The Vietnamese always enjoy their coffee slow. When the coffee tastes good, you want to makes it last.

Why Condensed Milk?

After the French brought coffee into Vietnam, they realized that is difficult to have a handful of fresh milk every day. So they turn to condensed milk, which can preserve way longer than fresh milk and give a sweeter taste to the coffee.

Fair Trade

Fair Trade efforts related to just about all of the 17 goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

All of the Coffee Beans has been collected from a Vietnamese farmer, who agrees for me to use their coffee beans for this project. By doing this project, with the effort of bringing true Vietnamese coffee into Japan, I hope that this project will encourage the youth to learn more and support the Fair Trade Program.
